Building on the success of the Port City Futures group, the Action Group will look at how the region can assist businesses within the maritime industries to capitalise on their coastal position.

Representatives from interested businesses and organisations were invited to an initial meeting where the proposed scope of the Action Group was explored.

A report on the outcome to date of the Solent Maritime Integration Project, showed there was further scope for development, especially through the enhancement of marketing strategies.

Chairman of Solent Maritime, George Angas, said: “It is both positive and encouraging that we are developing from the Port City Futures Group into Solent Maritime, where we will, by contributing to and working with other maritime organisations, build upon the commercial success of the Solent maritime region."

“I look forward to working with and contributing to the maritime community to the benefit of the Solent region as a whole,” he said.
