Basingstoke isn't all about major
corporations, almost 90% of
enterprises are micro-businesses

Invest in the North Solent region

The Basingstoke and Deane district boasts some of the most competitive commercial accommodation rental rates in the South. There is also the highly skilled workforce and the strength of the 'knowledge intensive' local business community.

The gross value added (GVA) figure per head of the population is £21,000 for Basingstoke compared to £17,000 as an average for the South East and England.

But Basingstoke isn't all about major corporations - almost 90% of enterprises in the borough are classed as “micro-businesses”  with fewer than 10 employees.

Research suggests the key to the borough fulfilling its economic potential is through “smart growth”: that is, increased economic activity, high skills, improved enterprise levels, more efficient use of land.  The borough appears to be well placed to deliver based on current high levels of economic activity and productivity.
